White Lotus Season 3 on Koh Samui
Update – Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is confirmed as a location for White Lotus Season 3 and filming begins soon.
Rumours are flying around the island – will Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui really be the location for White Lotus season three? I know nothing and you know nothing – it’s just conjecture – but that’s what the whispers say. (Plus, curiously, the hotel is currently blocked off as unavailable for the end of January, most of February and all of March 2024 … some of the best months of the year on Samui. Strange, no?)
So, with lots of impatient speculation, let’s get to know the incredible Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui and see how it might suit some favourite White Lotus guests. Ready? Let’s fun.

Get to Know the Resort
Arrival
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui sits ever so discreetly on the far northwestern corner of the island. You see nothing but a tasteful sign from the road and then a steep driveway into what looks like a wooded jungle. From the arrival sala*, you have an astonishing view of the Gulf of Thailand and it gets better from there. The property is built on a steep hillside so you’ll get to your villa by golf buggy.
*A common Thai word for an open-air structure, like a pavilion, but commonly used as hotel lobbies or yoga spaces.
Bill Bensley
Do you know this gay? Incidentally, the property (and many other gorgeous resorts in Thailand) was designed by Bill Bensley – an absolute legend in his field and one of my absolute top "dream dinner party" guests. Not a single coconut tree was cut down during construction – Bensley ensured each villa was built around the existing trees (so you might find a few growing through the middle of your swimming pool).
Resort Stats
- 856 coconut trees (you might call them palm trees but – look closer – they’re coconut trees, formerly Koh Samui’s main industry before tourism).
- 50-metre (165-foot) infinity lap pool at the beach
- 200 types of rum in the Rum Vault (the first of its kind in Asia)
- 150 varieties of flowers growing on site (and almost 2 million plants across its 42 acres)
Villas and Residences
Ready to choose a room? Increase your expectations – no standard rooms are to be found here. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui’s inventory includes seven kinds of villas and six even more indulgent private residences. Which suits your group and its needs?

- Oceanfront Pool Villa
- Beach Villa with Pool
Residences
- Island Residence with Pool

Serenity Pool Villa
Want to stay higher up, away from everything, surrounded by the palm fronds on surrounding coconut trees? Choose this villa for its private location. A serenity pool villa has a large deck with sun loungers, plus your own pool.
Ideal for: A happy couple – Isabella and Rocco – who want to relax and spend time together. You’re serene – the villa is serene – la vita è bella.
Guests: 3 adults, or 2 adults and 1 child
Size: 103 m2 (1,108 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed OR 2x twin beds
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Island Ocean Pool Villa
While similar in space and size to the Serenity Pool Villa, this villa type has a longer, larger pool – ideal if you’d like to swim more than paddle. As above, its hillside location also makes it a good choice for tucking yourselves away.
Ideal for: Anyone making a short stop at this hotel as part of a larger trip. Maybe just a night or two here – to gatecrash your son's honeymoon – and then on to somewhere else in Thailand? Shane's mom Kitty, bring your "very! strong! opinions" and your "money money money" right this way.
Guests: 3 adults, or 2 adults and 1 child
Size: 103 m2 (1,108 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed OR 2x twin beds
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Premier Ocean-View Pool Villa
This pool villa is similar in layout to the Island Ocean Pool Villa (both have long pools, large decks and hillside locations). However, this villa only has a king bed option (no twins) and is a stand-alone separate building (whereas the Island Ocean Pool Villa might have a neighbouring villa that could be connected through a door on the decks). To increase your privacy, you can close the curtains on your outdoor deck and living area (which is fan-cooled for your comfort).
Ideal for: A couple who wants privacy and a gorgeous view. If there's a new special person in your life (any luck, Valentina?) spoil them here.
Guests: 3 adults, or 2 adults and 1 child
Size: 103 m2 (1,108 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Panoramic Ocean-View Pool Villa
Enjoy the biggest views and the utmost privacy (though perhaps a slightly longer buggy ride to the beach).
Ideal for: Someone who can't be seen. Who mustn't be here? Who has – verbatim – been told to stay in their room and hide. Portia, with a view like this you won't want to go anywhere. Certainly not Palermo.
Guests: 3 adults, or 2 adults and 1 child
Size: 103 m2 (1,108 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Family Pool Villa
A perfect choice for families with children up to twelve years old. Unlike the villas above (some of which can be connected to accommodate families), the Family Pool Villas are further down the hill and closer to the beach so it’s an easy walk. In addition to beach proximity, you also get a 15 m2 (161 sq.ft.) private infinity pool. This two-bedroom villa has two twin beds in the kids’ room, plus a toy box and a separate TV.
Ideal for: Parents with young children who really, really need to relax after stressful life events. Like giving birth at work. Lani and family?
Guests: 2 adults and 2 children
Size: 118 m2 (1,273 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed AND 2x twin beds (in a separate bedroom)
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Oceanfront Pool Villa
At these villas you’re close enough to touch the beach – it’s just a five-minute walk away (so you never need to take a buggy unless you’d like the ride). You get a large free-standing bathtub in a bathroom that opens to your deck – complete with infinity pool.
Ideal for: A single traveller, a couple ... or a pair of female friends who have just come into some money. Lucia and Mia, per esempio... The short walk to the beach makes the cocktail schedule much more manageable.
Guests: Up to 3 adults (or 2 adults and 1 child)
Size: 102 m2 (1,097 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom
Beach Villa with Pool
Can’t choose between the beach or the pool? Have both. This villa gives you direct beach access, a larger living space and a giant pool on the lower level. No other villa has such a large pool or such a prime location. In other words – it’s the Pineapple Suite.
Ideal for: A honeymooning couple who must have – must. have. – the best room. Shane and Rachel – right this way. Pineapples will be served pre-sliced, for obvious reasons.
Guests: Up to 3 adults (like a honeymooning couple and his mom, or 2 adults and 1 child)
Size: 125 m2 (1,345 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed
Kids: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom, plus an outdoor rain shower
Island Residence with Pool
As is customary in Thai architecture, these (and all other) residences have separate buildings for various living functions. Your master bedroom villa is therefore separate from from the living and dining villa (and – run and hide, Quinn – a small kitchen). Walkways connect the two buildings and your ocean-view infinity pool.
Ideal for: Ethan and Harper? A couple with cash to burn (maybe you just sold your tech company?) who, categorically, does not want a connecting room with your supposed friends.
Guests: Up to 3 adults
Size: 660 m2 (7,102 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed plus an optional rollaway bed
Bathrooms: One full bathroom with an extra outdoor shower, plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 7 x 9 m (23 x 29.5 ft)
Two-Bedroom Residence Villa with Pool
Need your space? How about a two-bedroom villa the size of almost two NBA basketball courts? The two bedrooms are in separate buildings, so you get tons of privacy. For enjoying time together, there's a giant infinity pool and generous indoor/outdoor living areas.
Ideal for: A couple like Tanya and Greg whose requirements remain ... flexible. Your party size might be three adults ... but things could change. Better to have a spare bedroom just in case. At the very least, you'll have some space to stash your macaroons. ("What macaroons?")
Guests: Up to 6 adults (or 4 adults and 2 children)
Size: 752 m2 (8,092 sq.ft.)
Beds: 1x king bed AND 2x twin beds
Extra beds: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed per bedroom
Kids: Two more children (a total of four) are allowed if two of them are ≤ 3 years old.
Bathrooms: Two full bathrooms with extra outdoor showers, plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 4 x 14 m (13 x 46 ft)
Three-Bedroom Residence Villa with Pool
Ideal for: A group of “high-end gays" – Quentin, Matteo, “What’s His Face” Hugo and Didier, with a third bedroom downstairs for Niccoló.
Guests: Up to 9 adults (or 6 adults and 3 children)
Size: The exact size depends on the villa but ranges between 945 – 1,130 m2 (10,168 – 12,159 sq.ft.)
Beds: 2x king beds AND 2x twin beds
Extra beds: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed per bedroom
Kids: Three more children (a total of six) are allowed if two of them are ≤ 3 years old.
Bathrooms: Three full bathrooms (one per bedroom – two of which have outdoor showers), plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 3.8 x 13 m (12.5 x 42.7 ft)
Three-Bedroom Family Residence Villa with Pool
As with the Family Pool Villa, this residence is suited for families with children under twelve years old. It differs from the Three-Bedroom Residence Villa as two of the bedrooms have additional children’s rooms. The third bedroom, on the lower level, does not.
Ideal for: A family with young children, maybe travelling with some friends (or perhaps a handsome blonde blue-eyed personal trainer?) At over 10,000 square feet you've got all the room to play Cameron and Daphne's favourite game, hide and seek.
Guests: Up to 7 adults and 4 children
Size: The exact size depends on the villa but ranges between 945 – 1,130 m2 (10,168 – 12,159 sq.ft.)
Beds: 2x king beds AND 6x twin beds
Extra beds: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed per bedroom
Bathrooms: Three full bathrooms (one per bedroom – two of which have outdoor showers), plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 3.8 x 13 m (12.5 x 42.7 ft)
Four-Bedroom Residence Villa with Pool
Ideal for: Three generations of Di Grassos. Bert gets a room, Albie gets a room, Dominic (plus or minus wife?) gets a room, with a spare room for a forgiving daughter should she choose to join.
Guests: Up to 12 adults (or 8 adults and 4 children)
Size: The exact size depends on the villa but ranges between 1,145 – 1,210 m2 (12,320 – 13,020 sq.ft.)
Beds: 3x king beds AND 2x twin beds
Extra beds: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed per bedroom
Bathrooms: Four full bathrooms (one per bedroom – two of which have outdoor showers), plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 2.8 x 14 m (9.2 x 46 ft)
Five-Bedroom Residence Villa with Pool
This is the only villa or residence that doesn’t come with rates … you need to phone and presumably put down your firstborn child as collateral (+66 2 207-8900). Oh, and there’s a wine cellar.
Ideal for: The Mossbachers – or any other "search engine company" execs. You get a room for mom and dad, and a room each (with windows) per grown child and grown child's ungrateful friend, plus a spare bedroom from which to Zoom China. Nihao!
Guests: Up to 15 adults (10 adults and 5 children)
Size: 1,503 m2 (16,172 sq.ft.)
Beds: 4x king beds AND 1x twin
Extra beds: Add an optional crib or a rollaway bed per bedroom
Bathrooms: Five full bathrooms (one per bedroom – two of which have outdoor showers), plus a guest half-bathroom in the living/dining villa.
Pool: 5.5 x 15 m (18 x 49.2 ft)
What to know
Villas and residences include housekeeping twice a day, an espresso machine and a pillow menu. Residences offer guests a personal residential assistant to help with any requests. As for children, there’s no extra fee for children (≤18 years) staying in their parents’ room provided that space permits.
Packing stupid-expensive bracelets? There’s a safe per bedroom … but maybe leave the jewellery at home. For one, your fingers will swell in Koh Samui’s heat so rings won’t fit as well and there’s always a risk of losing things in the water while you swim, paddleboard or snorkel.
Fees and service charges
In addition to the nightly room rate, anticipate a 10% service charge plus tax (standard at all hospitality providers in Thailand). Unique to Four Seasons Resort is its Coral Reef Conservation Fee which adds THB 93.46 plus tax per night (approx US$2.30). Don't be a Jack – pay for your things.
*Note: THB stands for 'Thai Baht' (pronounced 'bat' in a British accent or 'bot' in an American accent ... sort of).
Average room rates?
In low season (which typically coincides with Koh Samui’s rainy season from October up to the holiday period at Christmas and New Year), an average nightly room rate at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is roughly 37,150 THB (plus the fees and service charges mentioned above).
You might find better rates for different villa categories (start with Serenity Pool Villas or Island Ocean Pool Villas), but take US$1000/night as a guide price for a two-person villa.
For comparison’s sake, the average rate across all accommodations on Samui for the same period is US$97/night.
Is Four Seasons Resort ten times (or a thousand times) better than anywhere else? Yea … probably. And I think they know it.
This year, November rates start at US$735, whereas Christmas/New Year rates easily exceed US$1800/night.
In peak season, expect understandably higher rates.
After White Lotus Season 3? (If, indeed, it features Koh Samui?) Add zeroes. I can’t even imagine.
Resort Facilities
Watersports
Want to SCUBA dive with your son? Jet ski with your college roommate?
At Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, you’ve got endless options and water-based ways to use any excess of testosterone.
Diving at Sail Rock (near Koh Tao)
Note: You’ll need to bring your existing dive certification – no lessons in the kids’ pool. This private diving trip can accommodate all levels and is a full-day excursion.
THB 9080 per adult (or approximately US$250)
Watersports
Guests have access to stand-up paddleboards, body boards, and kayaks (and kiddie kayaks) at no charge. Jet skis and E-Foils are available for a fee.
Beach
Samui’s beaches are superb and Four Seasons Resort takes extra care of its sand and shore (it’s routinely swept for any debris). To get competitive, a variety of beach sports are available: beach volleyball, beach soccer and coconut pétanque.
Just off the beach, enjoy The Beach House, a games room with tons of ways to enjoy a little shade. Choose from pool, air hockey and table tennis. A great place to wait for a girl who’s not coming. Sorry, Albie.
Bars and restaurants
“Could I get some alcohol?" – Tanya McQuoid
Yes. Very much yes, Tanya. For the ultimate beach bar, start with Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui’s CoCoRum. It’s next to the giant lap pool and has a rum vault – so choose something rummy. If a piña colada is “a lot of sugar”, maybe try a Jungle Bird (rum, Campari, pineapple and lime) or signature drink El Presidente (using rum bottled within the Rum Vault).
Location: Poolside
Pricing: Cocktails range from THB 420 to 580 (approximately US$12 to $16).
Hours: 10 am to 10 pm at the bar and 8 am to 6 pm at the beach
If you want to spend an hour out of the sun and day-drinking sounds good, you can book (A) a private rum tasting for a group of up to four people. (THB 1900/person or approximately US$50). (B) A private cocktail-making class. Or, (C), both of the above. But maybe not on the same day. Reference Daddy Mossbacher's (Steve Zahn’s) pool bar conversations as a cautionary tale.
Hours: 12 pm to 10 pm
Enjoy wine or cocktails with some light snacks before dinner. To stay on theme, go for a cocktail with Thai ingredients like lemongrass or galangal – aperol spritzes are literally so last season.
Hours: 6 pm to 10 pm
“We can have the white fish. Let's do it. I just don't like it when it's too fishy.” – Harper Spiller
Harper, you’ve got so many options to micro-manage your husband’s plate.
(Quick tip – ‘Koh’ means island, as in ‘Koh Samui’). Try the very best of Southern Thai food and see how spicy you like it. This is a stunning spot with an incredible outdoor dining deck. Everything served at KOH is sourced from within Thailand, the majority of which is from Samui itself.
Look away, Harper – Pla Pla means “many fish”. Open for lunch and dinner, this is the beachfront restaurant that offers seafood for those who want it and a meat grill for those who don’t.
“I don’t know why they keep giving us these menus, we know them back to front by now” – Cameron Sullivan
Want even more variety in your food? Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers both private cooking classes and a private chef’s table experience.
2 hours
THB 10,000 (flat rate for a group of up to 4 people)
Approximately US$275
Private Chef’s Table Experience
A seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings.
“Finger food is always a must.”— Tanya McQuoid
"What macaroons?" Treat yourself to afternoon tea by the sea. You can have your tea with champagne or without … so think carefully: what would Tanya do? Set on a driftwood sculpture, the tea set includes sandwiches, scones, a variety of pastries and – yes – macaroons.
Oh, and Paula, the cultural show is on Tuesdays.
Fitness
“I have this trainer in the city. Lawrence. He's so handsome.” – Daphne Sullivan
Need expert instruction to motivate your exercise? Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui has options for yoga, pilates, Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) and tennis lessons at all ability levels (beginners welcome).
Hour-long classes are offered for single participants, couples or groups of up to eight people.
You’ll never get to try Muay Thai with a better view – the ring is high on Four Seasons’ hillside and has ocean breezes, too. Kids are welcome.
Spa
"Listen I'm in desperate need of a massage" – Tanya McQuoid
Then call for a buggy and head to the Secret Garden Spa. In addition to massage and aesthetic services, signature treatments at Four Seasons Koh Samui Resort include:
Reason to Sleep
Length of time: 4 ¼ hours
Includes flow yoga, a Lava Shell massage, meditation, an in-villa bath and a massage.
Reason to Nourish
Length of time: 3 ½ hours
Includes a body scrub and wrap, a scalp massage and a private yoga session. Juicing and six “mini meals” are provided.
Reason to Play
Length of time: 4 hours
Exercise sessions and a Muay Thai lesson, lunch and a Magnesium massage
Reason to Pamper
Length of time: 5 hours
A body scrub, pressure-point massage and Thai steam compress, with tea served in the spa.
Spa hours are 10 am to 10 pm and spa packages can accommodate both singles and couples.
Entertainment
"Like, I just wanna...I don't know, feel, like, fulfilled and have an adventure" – Portia
Portia … if you’re still interested in boat rides, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui has some incredible options. The resort has two boats: Siam Seas Explorer, a 13-metre (42-foot) Oryx Sport Cruiser for up to 6 guests and Minor Affair, an 18-metre (60-foot) Sunseeker for up to 12 guests. You can book the boats for excursions all around Samui and its neighbouring islands: Ang Thong Marine Park, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan are all recommended.
For something, like, even more fulfilling consider:
This is very special. While many visitors to Samui take a day trip to Ang Thong Marine Park (something I highly recommend in good weather with a quality tour operator), Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers guests the chance to spend the night at the park aboard Minor Affair. The night includes a beach BBQ and bonfire with a sunrise and an optional hike the next morning. I wouldn’t miss this for the world.
A two-hour sunset cruise with cocktails provided. Book Minor Affair as a private group of up to six people (and decide for yourself whether to invite an unhinged lady with a strange metal box). The cruise is a flat rate of THB 17,000 for your group of up to six (with the option to include a maximum of 12 guests at a further THB 3,500 per head). That’s approximately US$470 plus US$100 for extra guests.
“I wanna do something meaningful.” – Rachel Patton
How about saving coral instead of writing clickbait? Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui employs an in-house marine biologist. Join her for weekly Coral Talks and on a two-hour snorkelling tour of the reef. “Tiny baby” blue crabs (in their larval or ‘zoea’ stage) are also released every week into the reef. (Don’t miss their parents on the menu – whole blue crab curry with betel leaves, yum).
"I love a good binge." – Daphne Sullivan
Want to watch a movie? Book the resort cinema (Just the Two of Us Cinema) for a private screening (they even provide the popcorn).
“So, yesterday you were reading Freud and Nietzsche, and today you're reading what?” – Shane Patton
If you want a quiet spot to read without judgmental people-watching, head to the Library – especially nice if you’re trying to escape the sun or heat for a while. Find it in the KOH Thai Kitchen building, on the lower level.
Kids Club
If you’re actually bringing your (suspiciously blonde-haired, blue-eyed) children on this vacation, they’ll love the Four Seasons’s kids facilities. The Tree House is Koh Samui’s Kids For All Seasons Kids’ Club – and it’s incredible. There’s a ball pool.
Ages: 4 to 12 years old (under 4s must be accompanied)
Hours: 9 am to 6 pm daily (break from 12 pm to 1 pm)
Complimentary
Guest FAQs
“It's hot out—I got swamp crotch.” – Greg Hunt
Greg, you’re probably wearing the wrong fabric for this very humid, very tropical climate. See what to wear in Thailand – and stick to linen.
“Are there any psychics in this town? Like y'know old-school ... psychic fortune-teller type of person?” – Tanya McQuoid-Hunt
As it happens, yes. Kind of. Four Reasons Resort Koh Samui offers a range of Resident Healers including an astrologist and palmist, a metta healer, a sound healer (involving crystals and Tibetan singing bowls) and a reiki energy healer.
“I want my coffee in peace. Can I?” – Valentina
Definitely. Each villa and residence has an espresso machine.
“I wanna do something special for my wife. Something kinda romantic. It's our honeymoon. I'm thinking a candlelit dinner totally off on our own. Somewhere cool that's like ... a beach or a cliff ... or just like an Instagram spot, y'know?” – Shane Patton
Oh, we all know. Maybe somewhere on land? Not a boat, right? Four Reasons Resort Koh Samui has several private dining packages but “the MOST romantic” might be its Once in a Blue Moon beach dinner. Totally. Private. No other attendees (except maybe your mom?). Not that cost is a question for you, Shane, but estimate THB 23,000 (approx US$635) for a two-person dinner with wine and champagne.
The hotel also offers personalised honeymoon itineraries if you want all of the credit and none of the work.
“[My husband] wakes up super early to go running.” – Harper Spiller
In this climate (HOT), you’ll want to exercise as early as possible. Depending on the time of year, the temperature starts to soar anywhere after 7 or 8 a.m. If your husband, just guessing but … Ethan? … prefers to run outside, try the resort’s Koh Samui K2 Hike. The route traces the golf buggy cart from beach level up to the arrival sala, gaining 122 metres (400 feet) in elevation. It’s nearly vertical and competitive guests can vie for the best time.
If you need to add air-conditioning (and in Samui’s climate, please do), the fitness centre is open 24 hours.
“I can't keep stuffing my face at these breakfasts. But they're free, you know? It's such a conundrum.” – Portia
You can and you must, Portia. Breakfast at KOH Thai Kitchen is glorious – don’t miss the coconut French toast and all the tropical fruit you can balance on a plate.
“I have fructose malabsorption.” – Paula
Coconut brioche, then? Danish of the Day? There’s plenty to eat no matter how specific your food preferences or sensitivities. Gluten-free diets and vegans can of course be accommodated, as can picky children. As for Paula? Proven fact – the more pastries you eat, the less you want to plot grand larceny.
“Of course, I have very strong opinions. ... I read somewhere in Conde Nast that said this was the most romantic hotel. Because my baby deserves the best.” – Kitty Patton
If you insist on stage-managing your adult son’s honeymoon, you might book him the ‘Island Romance’ package. Your baby and his new wife will receive sparkling wine, an in-villa dinner, a CoCoRum cocktail session and a romantic rose-petal bath (with heart-shaped balloons). Will they like it? You’ll be there in person to find out.
